Student-athlete spotlight Juliet Gordon, Women's Basketball

Year: Senior

Hometown: Adelaide, South Australia

Area of study:

Kinesiology (accelerated bachelor’s/master’s degree program)

Why she’s #UNDproud:

I came to UND on an official visit in April 2018, and over the past four years, I fell in love with the huge fan base and community feel of Grand Forks. People recognizing you at the shops or at church is special and being a role model for the kids I see at camp is truly a wonderful experience.

UND feels like home because:

My family back home never misses a game despite the 14-hour time difference, but I haven’t been able to go home for a year and half due to COVID-related travel restrictions in Australia. I’m fortunate to have wonderful families and friends who’ve opened their homes to me and make me feel welcome during these hard times. UND has blessed me with the opportunity to make friendships and relationships for life and I am so thankful for that.

Favorite place on campus:

Hyslop Weight Room. It reminds me of all my hard work off the court, and it has a snack room!

Favorite spot in Grand Forks:

The Betty. Whether you’re shooting by yourself late at night, laughing during a team practice or getting ready for the tip-off in a big home game, the excitement of the Betty is contagious.

Best UND memory:

Last year, we had a big win at home against Western Illinois that I’ll never forget. Our team had made huge strides and came together to be successful in our own roles. But for me the best part was running over to give our Head Coach, Mallory Bernhard, a massive hug after her first win as a head coach.
