Izzy Hunter Kempa Summer workshOp

My name Isabelle Hunter, currently I’m an incoming sophomore at Antioch Community High School. From July 15 to July 18 I am attending the KEMPA Summer Journalism Workshop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Here at Marquette, I signed up for Digital and Photo Journalism. It is a very interesting class that encompasses a lot of information from print journalism. My hope is that I will be able to gain more knowledge about the topic and bring back new ideas to my school magazine, the Tom Tom. So far I have learned the importance of teamwork, how to create short videos, how to tell a story through pictures and more.

Colored shirts were left in our dorms as well as lanyards with our names. These shirts determined what groups we would be a part of; I was assigned to red/mangenta.

On Sunday, July 15 the entire Kempa group took a trip down to Bastille Days. It is a festival that showcases French culture.

On Tuesday, July 17, we took a mini tour around campus where we learned about the history of some of the landmarks and buildings. In the end we were supposed to create either a timeline or interactive map with the pictures we took.

I decided to create an interactive map!

Here are some more pictures I took!

For our final project, we were given the task to record a reflection of our time at KEMPA.

Thank you for following my journey!
