Spinning Out of Control by Hoobastank

I've done everything as you say

I followed your rules without question

I thought it would help me see things clearly

But instead of helping me to see

I look around and it’s like I'm blinded*

(Chorus)I'm spinning out of control out of control**

I'm spinning out of control out of control**

(go)Where should go

(do)What should I do

I don't understand what you want from me

(go)Cuz I don't know (do) if I can trust you

I don't understand what you want from me(End Chorus)

I feel like I'm spinning out of control**

I try to focus but everythings twisted*

And all along I thought you would be there (thought you would be there)

So let me know I'm not alone

But in fact that's exactly what I was

(Chorus)

Or the things you said to me

And I may never know

The answer to this endless mystery**

(go) Where should I go

(do)What should I do

I don't understand what you want from me

Is it a mystery?

Is it a mystery?

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control

Where should I go

(do) what should I do

I don't understand what you want from me

(go) 'cause I don't know (do) if I can trust you

Or all of the things you said to me

And I may never know the answer to this endless mystery**

Where should I go

(do)What should I do

I don't understand what you want from me

I'm spinning out of control out of control

I'm spinning out of control out of control

*The stylistic device used in the fifth line is a simile. When the songwriter says that he looks around and it's like he's blinded, he means that he doesn't know what to do. It effects the song by giving it a feeling of confusion. **The second stylistic device used in the sixth line is hyperbole. The songwriter is saying that he's lost his bearings. It effects the song by giving a sense of desperation and feeling of helplessness.

Spinning out of control

“Feel Good” Inc by Gorillaz

City's breaking down on a camel's back*

They just have to go 'cause they don't know whack

So all you fill the streets it's appealing to see

You won't get out the county, 'cause you're bad and free**

You've got a new horizon It's ephemeral style

A melancholy town where we never smile

And all I want to hear is the message beep

My dreams, they've got to kiss, because I don't get sleep, no**

(Chorus) Windmill, Windmill for the land

Learn forever hand in hand

Take it all in on your stride

It is stinking, falling down

Love forever love is free

Let's turn forever you and me

Windmill, windmill for the land

Is everybody in? (End Chorus)

Laughing gas these hazmats, fast cats

Lining them up-a like a** cracks

Ladies, homies, at the track

It's my chocolate attack

S***, I'm stepping in the heart of this here

Care bear bumping in the heart of this here

Watch me as I gravitate, ha ha ha

Yo, we gonna go ghost town

This Motown, with yo sound*

You're in the place

You gonna bite the dust

Can't fight with us

With yo sound, you kill the INC

So don't stop, get it, get it

Until you're cheddar header

Yo, watch the way I navigate, ha ha ha

(Chorus)

**The stylistic device used in the twenty-fifth line is an allusion. The songwriter is referring to the Motown sound which is a type of soul music. The songwriter is saying "yo sound" is the Motown sound. This effects the song by giving it a sense of unity. *The second stylistic device used in the eighth line is personification. The songwriter is trying to say that he can't get sleep unless his dreams get a goodnight kiss. It gives the song a feeling of peacefulness.

"I don't get sleep, no"

“Stylo” by Gorillaz, Mos Def

(Chorus) Love, electricity, shockwave central

Power on the motherboard, yes

Push up, overload, legendary heavy glow**

Sunshine, thunder roll, keep this on

Yes the lantern burn, burn that easy

And broadcast, so raw and neatly

Thunder roll, sunshine, work it out(End Chorus)

Overload, overload, overload

Comin' up to the

Overload, overload, overload

Comin' up to the

Overload, overload, overload

Comin' up to the

Overload, overload, overload

Comin' up to the

Oh Stylo

Go forth, blossom in your soul

When you know your heart is light

Electric is the love*

When the mako flies up from the bottom in your eyes

Then I know the twilight skies are not so broken hearted

If it's love is electric

It'll be flowing on the streets

Night after night

Just to get through the week

Sometimes it's hard

Right now

Sing yourself out of depression, rise above

Always searching if I know your heart

Electric is the love

There's only one way

Let it pray a little while longer

It's got a way of passing through man and woman

In another world

In another world, in the universe, oh

Right now

Here's what we got to do

If it's love is electric

It'll be flowing on the streets

Night after night

Just to get through the week

Sometimes it's hard

That's what I'm talking about

Right now

The stylistic device used in the nineteenth line is a metaphor. When the songwriter says electric is the love, he means that it flows through people like electricity through electrical devices. This effects the song by giving a sharp, warm feeling. **The stylistic device in the third line is imagery. The songwriter is saying the legendary heavy glow is very bright and vibrant. It gives a feeling of warmth.

"Legendary heavy glow"

Breathless World

Breathing is the most important thing, no,

Without it, you won't be able to live,

Oxygen is the thing that keeps you alive,

It sails through the air as well as flow through you,

Without it, you won't survive,

From the trees in which they give,

Which is the source if you must know,

Oxygen lives within water,

Without it, the world will be as dry as a desert,

Earth would become lifeless as if there was a slaughter

"Dry as a desert"
