We are already into week eight of term 2 term which is very hard to believe. Time flies, too fast at times.
Thank you for your wonderful support at last weeks Parent Teacher Interviews. It is certainly one of the highlights of my year and I know our teaching team certainly enjoys finding out more about the students so we can work in partnership to do the best for our children. I am very proud to announce we achieved 89% attendance.
We are very pleased to report our roll continues to grow rapidly and last week Mrs Fiona Smith opened a new entrant room in A2.
Last month we recognised our support staff for 'Support Staff' day. Chapel Downs School has a remarkable team who support our children. The dedication and hard work of our language assistants, caretaker and office staff cannot be underestimated. The school simply could not function without them. What always impresses me is the genuine passion they have for Chapel Downs School. They care about our children and they make a real difference everyday. No amount of thanks can truly express the appreciation we have for this team.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our current Board of Trustees for their dedicated efforts over the last three years. They work hard behind the scenes on the governance of our school and their work has resulted in a quality learning environment for our students and ensuring that our students receive quality education and a wide variety of experiences.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jason Papali'i and Luke Chalmers for the support and guidance they have provided while serving on our Board of Trustees.
Congratulation to our new board who held their inaugural meeting this week.

Year 3 Learn to Swim Programme
We are very pleased to again report that the Field of Dreams Foundation has selected our Year 3 students for free swimming lessons at the Otara Leisure Centre. This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to be taught to swim in small groups with trained instructors. This term the programme involves all Year 3 students and will run every Friday.

Chapel Downs Music Programme
We are very excited to now have a specialist music teacher on our team. Miss Toops runs our senior music programme in our new music studio. She has also started a school band and is supporting our Kapa Haka and Pacific Island Groups.
It was wonderful to have our Ukulele group perform at our last assembly. Huge thanks to Mr and Mrs Louw for working with the Ukulele Group.
If your child is turning 5 in the next 12 months (born in 2015) please ensure you enrol them as soon as possible. With the roll steadily growing at Chapel Downs this will enable us to keep a track of how many New Entrants we can expect in the future. Enrolment packs are available at the office. Our term two Pre School Morning will be held at 9.15am on 27th July. Please click below to download our enrollment form.
This term senior school students are working on developing their running skills and building fitness. Every second week students have a cross country practise to prepare for the big event. Our Senior School Cross Country Event will be held on Thursday 4 July, starting at 1.45pm out on the field. Parents are welcome to come along and support our students.
Last month our netball team represented us at the Otara School Tournament at Lloyd Elsmore.
