November 2016 Abba's Pride Ministry Update

WELCOME!

Welcome to the Abba's Pride November 2016 update, where we strive to do our best to share the story of Abba's Pride to people both near and far. We are excited you have taken the time to stop in and see what the Lord is doing! Our prayer is that this monthly update serves as a tool for you to not only learn more about Abba's Pride, but to better understand how to pray for this ministry!

Lonnie Warren's Trip the United States

Lonnie Warren, Co-Founder and Chief of Abba’s Pride, was recently blessed to be able to spend 6 weeks in the States sharing about what the Lord is doing here in South Africa. During his time in the States, Lonnie had the opportunity to attend the Orange Conference in Petersburg, Virginia and also share the Abba’s Pride story at multiple churches.

Thank you to the following churches, church leaders, and organizations for welcoming Lonnie into your church family:

  • Coastal Community Church (Virginia Beach, Virginia)
  • Shiloh Baptist Church (King George, Virginia)
  • Laurel Hill Baptist Church (Fredericksburg, Virginia)
  • Fuente De Vida "Fountain of Life" (Fredericksburg, Virginia)
  • Saint Johns Baptist Church (Virginia Beach, Virgina)
  • Asbury Church (Raleigh, North Carolina)
  • James Warren (Youth Leader at Coastal Community Church)
  • Matt Brun (Youth Leader at Suburban in Virginia Beach, Virginia)
  • Mike Johnston (Youth Leader at Real Life in Chesapeake, Virginia)
  • Andrew Marshal (Youth Leader at Great Bridge Presbyterian in Chesapeake, Virginia)
  • Joy Launi (Youth Leader from Grace Bible Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia)
  • Baptist General Association of Virginia (Richmond, Virginia)
  • Watermarks Camp (Scottsville, Virginia)

Lonnie was also blessed to spend a good amount of time with his friends and family. Many mornings he was able to sit down and have breakfast with his father. While enjoying his time catching up with old friends from around Virginia and North Carolina, they caught a few fish (some larger than others) and even had time to do some bow hunting! Some of his most precious moments were those spent family. He was able to enjoy time with his son and daughter in law, James and Kelsey Warren, in Virginia; his father and brother, Jim and Alan Warren, at a lake house in North Carolina; and his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Christine Warren for a long weekend in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Lonnie’s time in the States awesome!

Our annual "Family to Family" campaign has begun! We have already had over 175 children sponsored, but with a total of 340 children to sponsor, we need your help to make sure that we sponsor every child during the Christmas holidays! For just $19 or R200 you can feed a family of 4, one meal a day for 10 days!

Teacher Training

Two years ago God planted a dream in Debbie Warren's heart. The dream was to find a way to train teachers and come alongside them through teaching, mentoring, coaching, and prayer. With that dream the Early Childhood Teachers’ GUILD was born. In October 2016 Abba’s Pride completed its first full year (plus a bit) of GUILD training.

WHAT'S NEXT?

In January 2017 Abba’s Pride will launch a new program- GUILD 2. Abba’s Pride will continue to walk with the practitioners that completed GUILD 1 by taking them into the second phase of the program. Additionally, by very popular request and need, we will begin a new GUILD 1 group. We have the potential to invest in up to 30 teachers! That means over 600 children receiving a stronger Christian-based early childhood education.

HOW WILL WE MAKE THIS HAPPEN?

It was a stretch for Debbie and Rebecca to invest in each practitioner this year and we need help to implement Guild 1 & 2. We believe God desires for us to hire an individual that speaks at least one African language, has a heart for the orphaned/vulnerable children and will bring encouragement to the teachers. This mentor/trainer will work with Debbie and Rebecca and will make regular site visits for observations and instruction.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • Pray for the right person to join the Abba’s Pride team to serve alongside us as the teacher mentor/trainer
  • Pray specifically for $9700 for a full year of the trainer’s salary and transport
  • Sponsor a teacher! $60 a month will provide for all of the GUILD program needs for one teacher including instruction, supplies and travel

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

With a total of 110 children and youth volunteers, there are still 36 children and volunteers needing sponsorship for KIDS' CAMP in January! For just $75/R1000 you can send a kid to a life-changing week of camp that they may never get to experience again.

Aren't able to sponsor the full amount? Don't worry, you can still help! Any financial gift will help send a kid to camp! Is your business interested in sponsoring Kids' Camp? Let's make it happen!
