It All Began in a Garden The Gardens at Horticultural Centre of the Pacific - Victoria BC

Quite possibly one of the least known gardens in the Victoria area but also one of the gardens you should not miss visiting when in the area is the Glendale Garden. I am not sure whether it should be referred to as The Gardens at HCP or Glendale - either way it is not to be missed.

This is a teaching garden and whether you are a novice, an experienced gardener or aspire to earn a Landscape Horticulture Certificate there is something to learn here.

I visited as a garden lover and I was not disappointed.

The Glendale Garden is a series of gardens within a garden. With fully twenty individual gardens you should allow yourself plenty of time. It's a good thing there is a lovely cafe for lunch on site.

I wish I had a map of the garden to refresh my route around but I don't, so we will visit the gardens in no particular order.

The Bonsai Garden

I was treated to more bonsai in one place than I have had the pleasure of enjoying before.

The Lily Garden

The Heather Garden

The Bird, Bees & Butterfly Garden

Busy as a bee, or four bees.
Not a bird, bee or butterfly but welcome in the garden nonetheless.

The Mediterranean Garden

The Takata Japanese & Zen Garden

Secluded seating is available where you can sit and listen to the water, enjoy the songs of the birds and feel the peace of the place.

I don't know which of the gardens the remainder of my images belong in so they will be shared in no particular order.

The rest of the gardens are:

  • Herb Garden
  • Urban Garden
  • Children's Garden
  • Upper Veggie Garden
  • Doris Page Winter Garden
  • Drought Resistant Garden
  • Anna's Garden
  • Native Plant Garden
  • Farm Garden
  • Hardy Fuchsia Garden
  • Cutting Garden
  • Rhododendron & Hosta Garden
  • Conservation Park

Until we can meet in a garden once again - stay safe and stay healthy.
