Common preservatives used in soft drinks. Their health effects can vary from provoking asthma attacks to cancer. However, more research needs to be conducted to analyze the true effects.

Many common foods contain preservatives. Cheerios, for example contain Ascorbic Acid.

Foods of all kinds have preservatives added to them to extend shelf life. There are many pros and many cons but the consumer should be the one that makes the decision on whether or not to consume them.
