Cuenca is the capital city of Cuenca Province, central Spain. The city covers an area of about 17,061 square kilometers and the population here is about 54,600. Cuenca features a number of monuments and rivers with clear waters.

This is the city of Barcelona. Known for its rich cultural heritage the city of Barcelona is one of the major tourist destinations of the world. Not only that, it is also the second largest city in Spain. However few know that Barcelona was originally founded as a Roman city.

Tapas are the main food ate in Spain. In Spain tapas are ate any time of the day fitting with breakfast lunch and dinner.

Spain is one of the world’s oldest cultures with a rich heritage that has influenced entire continents. It is the birthplace of the Spanish language Pablo Picasso and Miguel Cervantes and attracts millions of people every year.

Spain is full of castles this castle is called Castle of La Mota. Castle of La Mota is a reconstructed fortress with roots dating back to the 11th century. Over the centuries, the kings of Castile and Aragon fought over it, but it has been a Castilian holding since the 15th century. The castle dominates the surrounding area as it sits on a hill at Medina Del Campo in Valladolid Province.

Madrid has been the capital of Spain since the 17th century.The name Madrid comes from the arabic magerit which means place of many streams.The population of Madrid was 950 000 in 1900 now it is over 3 million.

Spain's main religon is Catholic. Catholicism is a term that refers to the beliefs and practices of Christian denominations that describe themselves as catholic. It commonly reflects traditions of Catholic theology, doctrine, liturgy, ethics, and spirituality.

Spanish is Spain's main language. The Spanish language originated in the Southwest region of Europe known as the Iberian Peninsula.

Spanish Independence

in the early 19th century, Napoleon's occupation of Spain led to the outbreak of revolts all across Spanish America. On September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo Costilla, a Catholic priest, launched the Mexican War of Independence with the issuing of his Grito de Dolores, or “Cry of Delores.”

These are the most popular peices of clothing in Spain. Most traditional Spanish clothing is reserved for special events and celebrations. The most common pieces, still used today, include: the mantilla the peineta and the gilet.

Hernan Cortes was a Spanish conquistador who overthrew the Aztec empire and won Mexico for the crown of Spain.
