What's happened ?!

NEW WUC VISION & GOVERNANCE

The WUC Terms of Reference defining the WUC membership and governance have been streamlined to increase engagement and flexibility for partners to interact and improve decision-making. Partners have also crafted a WUC vision, revisiting their goals and principles of action.

WUC ELECTIONS: CALL FOR CANDIDATES FOR STEERING COMMITTEE

The WUC Secretariat is calling for elections to form the new WUC Steering Committee. This should be composed of up to 15 Partners Constituent Groups (PCG) Chairs and their co-Chairs. The elections will be held online from 20 to 25 October. (Deadline for candidates to apply is 15 October)

URBAN THINKERS CAMPUS PHASE 5.0

Following the UTC Call for Proposals issued in July 2020, 26 UTCS have been approved. The approved campuses are scheduled to take place between 31 August to 11 December 2020.

What's next ?

The Second WUC Assembly will be held early November (Date to be confirmed by the World Urban Campaign Secretariat)

URBAN OCTOBER

Urban October is a month to raise awareness on issues and opportunities of urbanization

Join the World Habitat Day virtual celebration on 5 October 2020 on the theme 'Housing For All: A Better Urban Future' and learn more about World Cities Day taking place on 31 October 2020 on 'Valuing our communities and cities'

40 DAYS SAFER CITIES CHALLENGE

Starting on the International Day of Peace on 21 September and ending on the World Cities Day on 31 October, the Global Network on Safer Cities (GNSC) will run the 40 Days Safer Cities Challenge to raise awareness and mobilise organisations to act on safety in cities around the world, in particular to spotlight outstanding innovations for cities and communities.

HOUSING FOR ALL CAMPAIGN

Using the theme of World Habitat Day, UN-Habitat will run the five-week campaign on the theme starting on World Habitat Day. The campaign will raise awareness on the importance of adequate housing to development, engage partners and collect solutions to address housing gaps. The central message is that housing is not just a roof. Housing contributes to health, dignity, safety, inclusion and well-being.

UN-HABITAT COVID-19 CAMPAIGN

Has your organization joined the UN-HABITAT COVID-19 CAMPAIGN? More than 100 organizations are a part of it.

COVID-19 CAMPAIGN SURVEY uses crowdsourcing to map urban impact of the Coronavirus.
