Students, it’s that time of year again! Christmas Convo has come and gone so if you slept through it, well, I feel bad for you!
Liberty University hosts a Christmas edition of its weekly Convocation gathering with which students are able to hear from a wide array of speakers. During this jolly season, however, students heard from fellow students!
Many strolled into the Vines center wearing Santa Clause hats, reindeer headbands, footie pajamas, and some even decorated their seating area with Christmas lights!
The festive assembly started off with a mash-up of Christmas songs with a lyrical twist. The entertainers sported the “Ugly Christmas Sweater” trend as they pranced around the decorated stage.
The audience burst with laughter as the faux David Nasser took the stage, comically mimicking the antics of the campus's head pastor.
The campus band, Worship Collective, also entertained the crowd by performing a twist to rapper Drake’s song, “One Dance,” putting a romantically comedic twist to it and calling it, “One Date.”
Several other guests were featured in the line of comedy, including:
• Karen Kingsbury
• Brian Welch
• For King & Country
• Hillary Clinton
• Gary Johnson
• Even the campus construction workers!
No one was exempt from the flow of comedy that came from the organizers of Christmas Convo.
The students also put together a game show that highlighted some of the speakers of this past convocation semester including Clayton King, Brian Houston, and Louie Giglio.
Amidst all the laughter, the message of Christmas was still shared. The real David Nasser took the last few minutes of the gathering to emphasize the true meaning of Christmas: the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To conclude on an even more exciting note, Nasser announced that the university will host its first ever Valentines Convocation in February. Who knows, maybe a ring will come even earlier than spring for some!

Christmas cheer filled the air as Liberty University, the recently re-accredited Christian school, hosted its annual Christmas Convocation on campus at the Vines center
The university’s students found joy and laughter in the satire of its past guest speakers, parading across the festively decorated stage in tune with the Christmas season.
Although full of jokes, the true meaning of Christmas that the university holds core to its foundation was not lost.
A lot of effort was put into the organization of Christmas Convo, so I speak for all when I say that the much-anticipated event was successful.
