The Hero Herald Week of August 24, 2020

UNSTOPPABLE!

Duff Elementary . . . No Ordinary Family!

woohoo! You Survived your first week of virtual learning!

Wow! What a week! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! We so appreciate you working through the first week of virtual learning in spite of connectivity issues, getting supplies and technology, and finding a groove that works for your child and the rest of the family too! That is no small feat and probably took heroic effort and we thank you!!! You are UNSTOPPABLE!

It really has been such a great week of learning! Our hope is that you have been able to mirror a schedule that resembles what students might follow in a "brick and mortar setting". It is important for students to have a routine and more important that they are accessing the learning in all classes. Please remember to help your child get connected for daily Zoom meetings and daily work in Canvas or Seesaw. Attendance is very important and is taken each day at 9:50. It allows us to know that students have access and are connected to the learning each day. Please remember that PE, Art and Music are not optional classes and students receive report card grades for these classes too.

Speaking of fine arts, we have a new music teacher, Mr. Josh Lewis. We are so excited for him to join the Duff family and we will feature him in next week's newsletter.

Tami Prinz, Duff counselor, has established virtual office hours if you should need to communicate or visit with her. She is a wonderful resource!

Duff Staff is Unstoppable!

Daily attendance is Super important

We will take attendance by 9:50 AM each morning. If your child has connected with his/her teacher and/or made progress by that time, they will be counted as PAS which means present asynchronous. If they are not connected at that time, they will be marked absent. We will call you and encourage you to connect before the day is over.

If your child is sick or has an appointment during online learning, please let your HR teacher know as well as the front office. 682-867-2000.

What's for lunch?

Duff is a food site and breakfast/lunch pick up is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 - 1:30 in the teacher parking lot.

You can also apply for free or reduced lunch online at https://www.aisd.net/families/household-family-data-collection/
