Boys soccer defeats Jenison By grace montgomery

WHAT HAPPENED:

The boys varsity soccer team beat Jenison on Thursday, Sept. 9 in an OK-Red Conference game. The Bucs scored a goal early in the first half to secure the lead. The Wildcats tied the game late in the second half, but the Bucs did not let up. They gained one more goal, ending the game with a score of 2-1.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN:

The Bucs win improves their record to 4-2 in conference and 4-2-1 overall.

KEY PLAYERS:

  • Senior captain Luke Thayer secured the win for the Bucs with the final shot on goal.
  • Junior Joey Basil had a strong offensive game and scored a goal as well.

THEY SAID IT:

  • "We played as a team and never gave up," senior captain Brady Mcdonald said. "We are going to stay composed and we will bring our intensity next game, just like we did tonight."
  • "We come on strong, but we have to keep that intensity the whole game," Thayer said. "We can't let silly mistakes lead to a goal."

The Bucs will travel to Caledonia to take on the Fighting Scots on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
