The 7 Elements of Art A tale of creativity and structure

Objective:

In this lesson we will be reviewing the 7 elements of art. Learning the brush tool, shape tool, Type tool, Paint Bucket tool & color swatches in Photoshop. Rescue the knowledge we already have for Photoshop.

Materials:

Start Here

  • Download the artElements_lastnameFirstname.psd to your google drive.
  • Photoshop
  • Wacom Tablet (Optional)

Tools:

Project Line:

  1. Open the photoshop file artElements_lastnameFrisrtname.psd.
  2. Go to file > save as and replace lastnameFirstname with you last and first name.
  3. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about line.
  4. Use the brush & type tools to follow the directions for the line layer.
  5. Save once finished.

Project Shape:

  1. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about shape.
  2. Use the shape and brush tools to follow the directions on the shape layer.
  3. Save once finished.

Project Form:

  1. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about form.
  2. Use the shape and brush tools to follow the directions on the form layer.
  3. Save once finished.

Project Value:

  1. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about value.
  2. Use the paint bucket, type, and brush tools to follow the directions on the value layer.
  3. Save once finished.

Project Space:

  1. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about space.
  2. Use the shape and brush tools to follow the directions on the space layer.
  3. Save once finished.

Project Texture:

  1. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about texture.
  2. Use the brush tool to follow the directions on the texture layer.
  3. Save once finished.

Project Color:

  1. Follow the link to watch the video, then read about color.
  2. Use the paint bucket, type, and brush tools to follow the directions on the color layer.
  3. Save once finished.
  4. Upload your properly named PS File to your google drive.
  5. Summit a comment with a google drive link for your properly named file to iTunesU. (refer to Project Line for proper name)
