Lingerie Guide

Bra/panty set with robe was purchased from Victoria's Secret

WELCOME LADIES! I know it can be frustrating trying to find the right lingerie for your body type since we're all so different, but I'm hoping this guide will make things a little bit easier for you if you choose to go out and shop for yourself!

If you're not a lingerie person or you don't want to spend money on lingerie you might never wear again, please don't forget that I have a client lingerie closet here at my studio that you are more than welcome to borrow! It's filled with over 200 pieces from sizes XS-4X, so we'll definitely find something for you!

You can come over before your session and try on pieces to see what size you'll need if you want to shop online later...or based on your questionnaire that everyone fills out, I'll have some pieces picked for you based on the sizes you give me. I'll pull anywhere from 5-10 outfits for you and whatever fits, you can wear!

I have a ton of bras/bralettes on hand. Just pair them with your favorite bottom for a mix & match look!

Bralettes/Bras & Panty Sets:

There are so many different options out there for sexy bra/panty sets. When shopping for these, proper fit is extremely important. Be careful of push up bras as they often make you look unnatural, unless that's the look you're going for girl! Make sure the area near your armpit looks nice and smooth and you are not coming out of the cups. As for the bottoms, if you're comfortable with your tummy area, pick an underwear with unique details that outlines the tushie area for those Tushie Tuesday shots! If you want a little more coverage for the belly area, a high-waisted bottom is the way to go! You can still show off your gorgeous shape, while camouflaging any stretch marks/scars/etc. I personally love a boyfriend cut, or "cheeky" bottom. Thongs are also great too. If it's a fully coverage bottom we can always pull them up higher in a "wedgie" style to show off those buns!

I can't stress enough how much I LOVE bodysuits!

Bobysuits & Teddys:

A teddy is a garment that covers the torso and crotch in one garment. It is a similar style of garment to a one-piece swimsuit or bodysuit but is typically more sheer and definitely sexier. The bodysuit is a close-fitting, one-piece stretch garment for women. They are considered clothing, but they are great boudoir too!

These are my personal FAVS because they look great on EVERYbody! If you need more support there are some great one-piece outfits with underwire but I love the ones without because many different boob sizes can fit in there! If there is a little "spillage" or excess fabric that's ok, we can use hand placements, posing and arching to make the lingerie look great on your body! Look for straps that are adjustable! Almost all my bodysuits in my client lingerie closet have it!

These are great for hiding any problem areas while still showing off your sexy shape! Look for stud details, lace and special details that highlight your shape, while cinching you in at the smallest part of your waist.

Garters, Fishnets, Cage Bras....oh MY!

A Garter Belt is a belt worn around the waist or hips with attached garters or fasteners to hold up stockings. Sometimes Garters are built into lingerie so a belt isn’t needed. Fishnets are high-waited stockings that come in a variety of shapes and patterns that can be worn with or without undies. Cage bras also come in a varieties of styles that generally show off the breasts, but also come in styles where the breast is covered.

The stockings they hold up are called Thigh Highs (because they pull up to the thigh). There are two different types of thigh highs: Some have a rubber material on the inside to help them stay up. This is REALLY important to know. If the stockings have the rubber inside they are NOT meant for garters. They are meant to be worn without them. The rubber allows them to stay up on their own. If you try to pair these stocking with garters, they are very hard to attach because of the thickness of them. Stockings without the rubber are much more desirable for garters. There is an art to attaching the stockings. Again, don’t worry, I can easily help you and teach you how it’s done.

Clothing & Shapewear

Clothing is a fantastic option for boudoir! It might sound counterintuitive but think about a hot leather jacket, ripped jeans and a sexy bra or off the shoulder sweaters/t-shirts. There are so many options for clothing that can be just as sexy, if not sexier than lingerie. You can also mix the two. Try a beautiful bra with a full skirt, a tank top with a lacey thong or high socks. Why not have fun and be creative?!

Clothing that does not photograph well are Jerseys. They tend to be thick, heavy, boxy fabric that does not show off your gorgeous shape. Instead, think of using a fitted t-shirt if you want to represent your team! Also, leave all props, neon lingerie, babydoll and "costume" like clothing at home. I want my focus to be on YOU and I feel those things will be distracting to your photos.

Nude/White Sheets:

Need I say more? There is nothing more freeing and empowering than getting down to your birthday suit at the end of your session. You might not THINK you're going to want nudes, but believe me, by the time we're wrapping up you're going to feel more confident than you're expecting! I mean, you're almost there anyways....so why not get naked!? These tend to be my favorite images from the session because it's just you. No clothing, no colors, no lace or straps, just you. And what's hotter than that?

Now that we've gone over the basics, where can you find all of these gorgeous pieces?
