Calloway County and East Carter High Schools to Receive National Recognition from Special Olympics for Achievements with Inclusion.
Special Olympics Kentucky has announced that Calloway County High School and East Carter High School are Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools, are receiving national banner recognition for their efforts to provide inclusive sports and activities for students with and without disabilities. Calloway County High School and East Carter High School are receiving this honor as a result of meeting national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy and respect. Official Banner presentations will take place later this school year at each of their respective schools.
Calloway County High School and East Carter High School are among only 220 other schools from across the nation to receive this distinction and the first in the state of Kentucky. They will be presented with banners to hang in their schools and be included on a list of other schools around the country who have achieved this distinguished status. Calloway County High School has additionally been selected for ESPN’s Honor Roll which includes 29 other schools from across the nation.
