Yellow in the desert

We took a trip with a group of Minis into Anza Borrego to check out the desert flower bloom. With all the rain this year it proved to be fantastic.

Our mini pit stop off HWY 76 overlooking Lake Henshaw

The drive was beautiful all the way through the mountains. Finally beginning our decent into the desert, the slow crawl of traffic began. Apparently, everyone else had heard about the "Super bloom" as well.

However once we found a place to park (in the middle of the desert) we saw many unique flowers growing in this stark environment.

The mini sat and waited in the heat while we admired.

Flowers sprawled for miles in all directions. Some people told me it was the best they'd seen in over 13 years, better even...

Hot and hungry we piled back in the mini and headed into Julian for some pizza and apple pie. It was a great day trip, we got a lot of thumbs up in the car, and the flowers were spectacular. Well worth the heat and the traffic!
