Is there ANYTHING more exciting than snow when you are 4!? We certainly couldn't think of anything. So we made the most of the weather and took our learning through play outside.
Whilst we were playing out, mysterious things had happened in the classroom. A strange object appeared. After a debate about what to do, we decided that really the only thing to do was to take a risk and open it. We found a strange egg shape, and inside was a photograph of an alien. We think it might be an alien's spaceship but we are not sure. We wonder where the alien might be now, could he be hiding somewhere in our classroom?!
The next day we discovered that there definitely is an alien in our classroom. It had left footprints. The children thought that they might need our help, and imagined that perhaps they have come from a hot planet and could be struggling with the cold weather we have had. They made a basket of warm clothes and wrote letters to say a friendly hello.
In maths we have proved we are super shape detectives by working out which shape was in our feely bag by using shape properties to describe what we could feel.
Following the children's interest in their names we have been learning to recognise our names in print. This has prompted many conversations about the importance of text and that words carry meanings.
And finally, our usual mix of photos to give you a glimpse at our wonderful week...
