Helping Others Soar: author Andrea Reiser ‘84

I’ve always loved the craft of writing and was the editor of The Spoke my senior year at Wheeler.” Now, several years and three books later, she has focused her talents on the effects of positive psychology. Her most recent work, The Happy Book: 50 Rays of Sunshine to Brighten Your Day (PickleStar Press 2018) grew out of a collection of inspiring quote images she had created for her website. “Often I would get messages from readers saying, ‘I needed to hear this today! Thank you!’ It was fulfilling to learn that in a small way my daily quotes were helping people move toward achieving their goals,” Reiser says.

This Week

This Week at Wheeler: We announced three notable individuals receiving Wheeler Honors in 2020 and shared treats with the WSPA during Muffins & More. We paused to remember that during this season of giving, the best gifts come from within, and enjoyed a helpful resource (thanks to our LS Assistant Librarian and Miller Fellow, Charlene Williams!), on books about different Holiday cultures. We went to the Moon (buckle up for a whole lot of cuteness). US students learned the art of storytelling from a Pulitzer Prize winning pro, and others visited the Kinesiology Department at Bridgewater University. Out at the Farm with our Nursery, Kindergarten, and 6th Graders, we acknowledged the Solstice with s'mores and forest exploration. It's been another busy week! But even more so for our Handbells, who were a little bit of everywhere. Making plans for 2020? Well, be sure to check out Wheeler's Enrichment offerings this winter.

Top Section (L - R) Students enjoying S'mores and listening to a story out at the Farm, WSPA Muffins and More Co-Chairs Kate Cherepowich and Kate Darling, 8th Grade Advisory group out at The Farm getting their hands dirty in the garden plot. Bottom Section (L-R) Middle School Jazz Band at Hope Street Winter Stroll, our Cityside students hard at work, the Jewish Student Union held a latke sale for Hanukkah and Jewish Family Services, and our Handbell ringers during a community performance.
