Neges gan eich Llywydd

Helo bawb! Rwy'n gobeithio wrth ddarllen y neges hon eich bod i gyd yn ddiogel ac yn iach, a'ch bod chi wedi mwynhau'ch haf. Fel y gallwch ddychmygu, mae wedi bod yn haf anhygoel o brysur i ni yn Undeb y Myfyrwyr. Mae ein gwaith wedi bod yn barhaus, gan weithio gyda'r brifysgol i gynllunio ar gyfer y flwyddyn i ddod, ac rydyn ni'n gweithio'n galed i sicrhau bod yr hyn rydyn ni'n ei gyflawni yn parhau i fod o ansawdd uchel, yn ddeniadol ac yn effeithiol i amser pob myfyriwr yma ym Mangor. Roeddwn yn awyddus i roi ychydig o ddiweddariad i chi i gyd er mwyn rhoi blas i chi o'r hyn rydw i wedi bod yn ei wneud dros yr ychydig fisoedd diwethaf!

  • Ystyried canllawiau diweddaraf y llywodraeth, er mwyn caniatáu inni gynllunio cymaint â phosibl ymlaen llaw. Fel y gallwch ddychmygu, wrth orfod jyglo'r canllawiau sy'n dod gan Lywodraeth y DU, Llywodraeth Cymru ochr yn ochr â rheoliadau Cyrff Llywodraethu Cenedlaethol yng Nghymru, mae hon wedi bod yn senario sy'n newid yn gyflym. Yn yr Undeb, rydym wedi bod yn gweithio'n barhaus ar gynllunio senarios ar gyfer ein gweithgareddau ac rydym yn parhau i gynnal cyfarfodydd rheolaidd gyda'r Brifysgol a phartneriaid allanol.
  • Gweithio gyda grwpiau myfyrwyr trwy sawl fforwm gweithgaredd grŵp myfyrwyr, i sicrhau ein bod yn parhau i fod mor dryloyw â phosibl gyda'r hyn sy'n ymarferol neu nad yw'n ymarferol ar gyfer dychwelyd i'r campws. Rydym wedi cynnal dros 10 sesiwn, pob un wedi'i gynnal dros Zoom / Microsoft neu ddulliau ar-lein eraill! Trwy ein grwpiau a arweinir gan fyfyrwyr, cynhelir gweithgareddau ar-lein, ac yn bersonol os yn bosibl a byddant yn dilyn canllawiau y llywodraeth. Rydyn ni wedi gorfod addasu sut rydyn ni'n gweithio'n debyg iawn i weddill y byd
  • Dal y brifysgol i gyfrif o ran y cyfathrebiadau sy'n mynd allan i fyfyrwyr. Roedd darn mawr o hynny yn cynnwys gwneud y brifysgol yn ymwybodol o'r diffyg cyfatebiaeth ymddangosiadol o amgylch disgwyliadau myfyrwyr o'i chymharu â'r realiti y byddant yn ei brofi pan fydd y semester yn cychwyn. Trwy ein mewnbwn yn hyn, mae'n braf gweld bod cyfathrebiadau penodol wedi mynd allan i fyfyrwyr, i roi mwy o fanylion am 'Beth yw dysgu cyfunol', yn ogystal â chyfathrebu gan yr ysgolion academaidd i roi manylion faint o addysgu wyneb yn wyneb addysgu wyneb y dylech chi ddisgwyl ei dderbyn, cyn rhyddhau'r amserlen academaidd.
  • Rydym wedi bod ar flaen y gad o ran trafodaethau ynghylch cynlluniau'r Brifysgol ar gyfer y flwyddyn academaidd nesaf, gan rhoi ein mewnbwn i bob panel / pwyllgor prifysgol perthnasol sy’n gwneud penderfyniadau, gan bwysleisio'r angen i gadw ffocws ar brofiad myfyrwyr a sut y gall y penderfyniadau hyn effeithio arnoch chi yn y pen draw. Rydym wedi sicrhau bod llais y myfyrwyr wedi'i glywed mewn perthynas â chynlluniau addysgu, dysgu a phrofiad ehangach y myfyrwyr.
  • Yn y broses o weithio ar Strategaeth newydd ar gyfer Undeb Bangor i sicrhau ein bod yn cadw ein ffocws ar gyflawni'r hyn rydych chi am i'ch Undeb Myfyrwyr ei gyflawni.
  • Gwthio i sicrhau nad ydym yn cael ein heffeithio'n ariannol, a bod gweithgaredd myfyrwyr yn cael ei amddiffyn. Byddwn bob amser yn anelu at gyflawni cymaint ag y gallwn, sy'n unol â'r canllawiau a gallwn sicrhau ei bod yn ddiogel ichi ymgysylltu â hi.
  • Datblygu gwefan newydd Undeb Bangor sy'n fwy cyfeillgar i fyfyrwyr ac a fydd yn ein helpu i ganolbwyntio ar yrru a chynyddu ein hymgysylltiad myfyrwyr ar-lein.
  • Rydw i a gweddill y tîm swyddogion sabothol wedi mynychu llawer o ddigwyddiadau a gweithdai hyfforddi lleol a chenedlaethol a fydd yn ein helpu o fewn ein rolau i sicrhau ein bod yn eich cynrychioli i'r eithaf.

Fel y gallwch weld, mae wedi bod yn haf hynod o brysur. Rwy'n edrych ymlaen at eich croesawu chi i gyd yn ôl i Fangor yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf.

Cofion cynnes,

Henry

A message from your President

Hi everyone! I hope this message finds you all safe and well, and that you have enjoyed your summer. As you can imagine, it has been an incredibly busy summer for us in the Students’ Union. Our work has been ongoing, working with the university to plan for the year ahead, and we’re working hard to make sure that what we deliver continues to be high-quality, engaging and impactful on every student's time here at Bangor. I just wanted to give you all a bit of an update to give you a flavour what I have been up to over the last few months!

  • Digesting the latest government guidelines, to allow us to forward plan as much as possible. As you can imagine, having to juggle the guidance coming from UK Government, the Welsh Government alongside National Governing Bodies regulations in Wales, this has been a fast-changing scenario. Within the SU, we have been continuously working on scenario planning for our activities and this is still on-going with regular meetings being held with the University and external partners.
  • Working with student groups through several student group activity forum’s, to ensure we remain as transparent as possible with what is/ is not feasible for the return to campus. We have held over 10 sessions, all conducted over zoom/Microsoft teams or other online methods! Through our student-led groups, activities will take place online, and in-person if possible and will follow government guidance. We have had to adapt how we work much like the rest of the world.
  • Holding the university to account with regards to the communications going out to students. A large piece of that involved making the university aware of the apparent mismatch around student expectations compared to the realities that they will experience when the semester starts. Through our input in this, it is pleasing to see that specific comms has gone out to students, to give more detail on ‘What is blended learning’, as well as communication from the academic schools to give detail of how much face-to-face teaching you should expect to receive, ahead of the release of the academic timetable.
  • We have been at the forefront of discussions around the University’s plans for the next academic year, inputting into all relevant university decision making panels/committees, stressing the need to retain a focus of the student experience and how these decisions can ultimately impact you. We have ensured that the student voice has been heard with regards to plans in relation to teaching, learning and the wider student experience.
  • In the process of working on a new Strategy for Undeb Bangor to ensure we retain our focus on delivering what you want your Students’ Union to be delivering.
  • Pushing to ensure we are not impacted financially, and that student activity is protected. We will always aim to deliver as much as we can, that is in line with the guidance and we can ensure is safe for you to engage with.
  • Developed a new Undeb Bangor website which is more student friendly and will help us focus on driving and increasing our online student engagement.
  • Myself and the rest of the sabbatical officer team have attended lots of local and national training events and workshops which will help us within our roles to ensure that we represent you to the fullest.

As you can see, it has been an immensely busy summer. I am looking forward to welcoming you all back to Bangor in the coming weeks.

All the best,

Henry

Heriau Ariannol y Brifysgol

Fel y gwyddoch efallai mae'r Brifysgol ar hyn o bryd yn profi heriau ariannol sy'n golygu y bydd angen gwneud arbedion. Mae'r Brifysgol wedi cychwyn ar y broses ymgynghori i archwilio sut y gellir gwneud yr arbedion hyn. Hoffai’r Tîm Swyddogion Sabothol o Undeb y Myfyrwyr eich sicrhau ein bod yn gweithio’n agos gyda’r Brifysgol i sicrhau bod Llais y Myfyrwyr yn cael sylw ym mhob sgwrs a bod profiad myfyrwyr wrth wraidd unrhyw benderfyniadau dilynol.

University Financial Challenges

As you may be aware the University is currently experiencing financial challenges meaning that savings will need to be made. The University has commenced the consultation process to examine how these savings can be made. The Sabbatical Officer Team from the Students’ Union would like to reassure you that we're working closely with the University to ensure that the Student Voice remains at the forefront of every conversation and that the student experience is at the heart of any subsequent decisions.

Sesiwn Holi ac Ateb gyda aelodau o Pwyllgor Gweithredu’r Brifysgol

Gallwch wylio ein Sesiwn Holi ac Ateb gyda'r Athro Nichola Callow, Oliver Turnbull (Dirprwy Is-Ganghellor) a'r Athro Paul Spencer lle maent yn ateb eich cwestiynau am y flwyddyn Academaidd sydd i ddod

Q&A with members of the University Executive

You can watch our Q&A with PVC Professor Nichola Callow, Oliver Turnbull (Deputy Vice-Chancellor) and PVC Professor Paul Spencer where they answered your questions about the upcoming Academic Year.

Sesiynau Croeso

Rydym yn sylweddoli bod dod i’r campws eleni ychydig yn wahanol i’r flwyddyn flaenorol, ac mae’n debyg bod nifer o gwestiynau heb eu hateb gennych, felly byddwn yn cynnal sesiwn holi ac ateb ar 3 testun gwahanol dros y cyfnod symud i mewn.

Bydd y staff perthnasol o’r campws cyfan ar y panel, a chaiff y digwyddiad i’w gynnal trwy Zoom. Gall myfyrwyr ymuno a’r sesiynau i ofyn cwestiynau, neu i wrando, neu os hoffech gyflwyno eich cwestiynau yn ddienw, gallwch wneud hyn trwy ddefnyddio’r ffurflen yma.

Byddwn yn cynnal sesiynau dros bythefnos Croeso 2020, a gallwch ddod o hyd i ragor o wybodaeth am y sesiynau yma.

Welcome Sessions

We realise coming to campus may be a little different this year and understand that you could have some unanswered questions, which is why we will be holding Q&A sessions on 3 different topics over the moving in period.

There will be relevant staff from across campus on the panel, which will be held across Zoom, which students can join to ask questions or just listen in, or if you want to ask questions anonymously you can submit your question here!

We'll be running sessions over the two weeks of Welcome 2020, and you can find more information about the sessions here.
