The American Pastime, begins in towns, villages, and suburbs in summer sunshine. Never to be played in rain, sleet, or snow. It's about grass, dirt, and culture in those places. It's not the city version, with asphalt, sidewalks, and sticks. Don't get started on corn fields...
It's all imaginary, of course, assembled from childish memories and experiences, no two people having the same ones. That's why it's played on grass, in the summer, in the sun.
