Montezuma Restaurant Gettysburg, pa

Montezuma is a cozy little restaurant tucked between two apartment complexes just past the heart of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Although it specializes in Mexican food, Montezuma has something for everyone. From a simple fajita to a wide range of quesadillas and taco salads, it’s unlikely you’ll walk away dissatisfied. As soon as you enter Montezuma, you immerse yourself in a friendly, welcoming environment. The host or hostess will greet you with a smile, is quick to seat you, and is eager to please you. As soon as you sit down, you are sure to have your drink ordered and chips in front of you.

The chips and salsa are the highlights anytime you sit down at a Mexican restaurant, and Montezuma is no exception. The salsa is made with the perfect, mouth-watering combination of tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Along with the warm, crispy homemade tortilla chips, the salsa is an addictive appetizer that will keep you wanting more. Add a side order of warm, melted queso dip ($4.95)- which simply consists of a melted white cheese- and your appetizer will be complete.

Although I have eaten at Montezuma countless times, I always find myself ordering the same entrée. The chicken fajita quesadilla ($10.50) consists of a sizzling combination of green peppers and onions, topped with grilled chicken and smothered with queso, all inside a folded, golden-brown tortilla. On the side of the dish, you will find a small pile of shredded lettuce with sour cream and guacamole, along with a pile of brown rice. The whole dish is a masterpiece in and of itself, but it is even better when you take the first bite. The combination of the vegetables, chicken, and cheese all merge together, allowing you to indulge in a delicious flavor that will leave you wanting more.

While the food makes Montezuma special, perhaps the most amazing part is the service. As soon as you sit down, the waiters are rushing to put chips and salsa on the table and give you your drink. It’s only a matter of minutes before your order is taken and you are left to yourself to happily eat your chips. Oh, but they won’t forget about you. Even when your drink is just slightly depleted, the wait staff is sure to take it upon themselves to fill it to its original level, and you are unlikely to ever run out. Before you know it, your food will be sizzling on a plate right in front of you! The service is as good as it gets, and you likely won’t be there any longer than 30-45 minutes.

Montezuma is a one-of-a-kind restaurant that will never disappoint. I've been there countless times and very rarely experience slow service- when I do it is due to a crowded restaurant and overwhelmed wait staff. However, even on the off days when the service is somewhat slow, the wait staff is remarkably polite and does their best to meet my needs.

So, if you're ever looking for good quality food, available in as little time possible, Montezuma is the place to go.
