Women's Swimming and Diving Wins Big Ten Championship

Ohio State wins its sixth title in program history and its first since 1986. Scroll down for highlights of the historic win!

The Buckeyes placed first by a margin of 197 points over Michigan and became the first program to eclipse the 1,500 point barrier in Big Ten history

Ohio State Wins Gold

Senior Kathrin Demler opens the meet with a gold medal in the 500 freestyle; Freshman Mackenzie Crawford wins her first title on the 1-meter springboard; the 200 freestyle relay team of Petrak, Rayner, Jurkovic-Perisa, Fulmer finishes first; Senior Molly Kowal closes the meet on top in the 1,650 freestyle with a new meet record

Ohio State Finishes Second at Men's Big Ten Championship

On the final day of competition, four divers combined for a total of 107 team points on the platform to help the Buckeyes take sole possession of second place over Indiana

Podium Finishes

The men finished with 13, Top-3 finishes with three gold medals, six silver and four bronze. Andrew Loy earned two Big Ten titles in the 200 IM and 200 Freestyle while Paul DeLakis finished second behind Loy in each event.

For the 12th straight year, the Ohio State men finished Top 3 at the Big Ten Championships.

Alumni Weekend will take place September 25-26, 2020 in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend, with activities beginning that Friday evening as we recognize the 10 year anniversary of the last Big Ten men's championship. More details to follow.

Funds will be utilized to support activities of the women’s swimming program including, but not limited to, travel expenses and purchases of equipment & supplies.

Funds will be utilized to support activities of the men’s swimming program including, but not limited to, travel expenses and purchases of equipment & supplies.

Funds will be utilized for pool equipment, training aids, and additional immediate needs of the men’s and women’s diving programs.

Funds will be used to support annual book scholarships for the managers of the swimming programs.

2019-20 Dual Meet Recap

Swimming and Diving Teams Open Season Against Texas A&M

The Buckeyes officially opened their season with a two-day dual meet against the Aggies. The women were led by multi-event winner Molly Kowal while Paul DeLakis was a double winner for the men. The Scarlet and Gray battled before falling 174-124 on the women's side and 153-147 in the men's dual.

Buckeyes Sweep Penn State

The Ohio State men's and women's teams finished victorious in three of the four competitions in a three team, double dual meet against Penn State and Virginia Tech. The women went 2-0 on the weekend while the men dropped the meet versus the Hokies.

Ohio State Dominated Podium Against Kenyon, Akron

The Buckeyes swept the podium in 15 total events against Akron and Kenyon and picked up 27 first-place finishes out of 32 total events. The women defeated both Kenyon and Akron in the tri-meet while the men won 15 of 16 events against Kenyon and placed 1-2-3 on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard.

Ohio State Men and Women Sweep Denison

The Buckeye women dominated the competition by taking the top spot in every event on the day. Hanna Gresser was a double winner while seven Buckeye men finished with two, Top 3 performances. The Scarlet and Gray swept the podium on the springboard for both men and women.

Ohio State Tops Kentucky in 2020 Opener

The Scarlet and Gray defeated the Wildcats in a head-to-head dual to open the New Year. The women won a total of eight events in addition to two wins by Mackenzie Crawford on the springboard and platform. The Buckeye men took first in seven events while Lyle Yost added two wins on the springboard.

Senior Day: Ohio State vs. Michigan

Ohio State honored its 17 seniors competing at their home pool for the last dual meet of the regular season. The No. 3 Wolverines defeated the No. 16 OSU men 190-110 while the No. 5 Michigan women's team defeated the No. 18 Buckeye women, 165-135.

Buckeye men finish first of five in Ohio State Invitational with a score of 2,436.5
Buckeye women lead the way, finishing first of eight teams with 2,518.5 points

Three Buckeyes Represent Ohio State at the 2019 U.S. Open

Alex Dillmann swam in the 100 and 200 meter butterfly while Kathrin Demler and Kristen Romano represented the Buckeye women. Demler swam in three events and appeared in all three "A" finals while Romano swam in the 200 and 400 IM, improving on her season best time in the 400 IM.

Big Ten Athletes of the Week

Paul DeLakis - Swimmer of the Week

Paul earned the B1G conference honor after notching two wins in the season opener against Texas A&M. He placed first in the 200 and 500 freestyle with times of 1:37.16 and 4:32.27, respectively.

Freya Rayner - Swimmer of the Week

Freya notched 18 points for the Buckeyes against the Kentucky Wildcats with two first-place finishes. She recorded a NCAA B-cut in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.68 and took first again in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 50.03. She was the fourth-highest female point scorer in the meet.

Jason Mathews - Swimmer of the Week

Jason posted two first-place finishes against Denison and a second place finish with the 200 medley relay team. He swam to victory in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 54.53 and 1:58.66, respectively.

Thomas Watkins - Freshman of the Week

Thomas received his first career conference honor as he finished the weekend against Denison with two first-place finishes. He touched first in both the 100 backstroke (48.90) and 200 backstroke (1:47.81) and earned 18 points for the Buckeye men.

Lyle Yost, Joseph Canova and Jacob Fielding all earn Diver of the Week honors in January. Yost posted 18 points against Kentucky with two first-place finishes. Canova earned his first career honor after finishing first among male divers against Michigan. Fielding finished the Shamrock Invitational with 34 team points and two second-place finishes.
