Carlos Santana presentation by josh burke

Who is Carlos Santana?

Carlos Santana is a popular Mexican and American musician who became most popular from his band, Santana, which helped start a fusion of rock and Latin American music. He has won 10 Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards. The cultural blending themes themes I would most associate with Carlos Santana are in Music and Art (or Cultural Interaction), as he is highly responsible for the Latin American themes going through and now in Rock and Roll. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he is one of the largest Latin American artists ever in North America, becoming one of the first and the best representations of native Latin music in America, like his music he grew up with in central Mexico. He has always tried to make music that mixes his home culture and American Rock and Blues culture to make the best music, but also the music closest to his heart. He has always believed that true music transcends cultural borders and speaks to anyone and everyone.

He was born and raised in Jalisco, Mexico (the part of Mexico highlighted in green below).
"There's a melody in everything. And once you find the melody, then you connect immediately with the heart. Because sometimes English or Spanish, Swahili or any language gets in the way. But nothing penetrates the heart faster than the melody." - Carlos Santana
