June Blooms at Tryon Palace

HAPPY JUNE AND WELCOME BACK! We are so excited that our gardens are reopening to the public June 9, 2020! We have missed all of you terribly and been sad to only be able to share our beautiful blooms virtually! HOWEVER- the plants have been saving lots of blooming power for you and every garden is full of new flowers almost daily!

The Kellenberger Garden remains my favorite for its wow factor but the Latham summer blooms are coming along nicely and the pollinators are buzzing in the Hawks Allee. If you join us onsite, please remember to check out the Wilderness Garden- it's full of shade, lovely breezes and unique plants- a great respite from the hot summer sun! Don't forget to check out the gardens outside of the main gates at the Jones, Stanly and Commission Houses as well!

One other exciting thing we’re doing right now is our Members Only Plant Sale- June 8-11 and June 22- 25! Check out the plant order link HERE. If you are not already a member and would like to participate in the sale, you can join online at https://www.tryonpalace.org/donate-now! Memberships are a great way to support Tryon Palace year round and have lots of awesome benefits- including this sale!

If you’re itching to learn more and wanting future plans, we are always looking for volunteers for planting, raking, mowing, mulching, weeding. You can sign up now to join us in the future! It’s a great way to learn some gardening tips and tricks, especially for our area! If you’re interested in volunteering with us in the future (once we reopen to the public!), please contact me at (252) 639-3560 or hadley.cheris@ncdcr.gov.

We hope to see you soon! Happy Gardening,

Hadley Cheris, Tryon Palace Gardens and Greenhouse Manager
