Hello Maple Families! I hope everyone had a great and safe two weeks.
These two weeks, we learn about the holidays we celebrate in December. The kids had a lot of fun and we even decorated our Maple Classroom. We enjoy this wonderful season and hope to see more snow soon! :)
In the Art area:
These two weeks the kids had so many fun holiday art activities. Below you can see that we worked with color pencils as well as paint. The kids even made their own bag and decorated them their own wonderful way!
The kids enjoyed matching buttons, see below the pictures. They also did some animal puzzles and reviewed the basic colors, such as red, blue, green and yellow. The kids also worked with play dough, where they learned how to cut it, stamp numbers, and letters.
For language the kids went over some holiday vocabulary, which we practice for the past two weeks. Some words that we learned included:
Snowflake, Star, Christmas, Christmas Tree, Ornaments and drum.
These words we learned while using the activity shown below. The kids really enjoyed this activity! :)
Below you can see that the children counted with snowflakes from 1 to 5. We continue to learn the basic geometry shapes. The kids have so much fun matching the numbers to their same number on paper as well.
Cutting Bread using a cookie cutter:
The children really enjoyed cutting the bread with a cookie cutter. They made a lot of different forms with delicious fruit on top!
Baking Holiday Cookies:
The kids had a lot of fun baking delicious cookies, which they happily took home in their beautiful green bag!
The kids had so much decorating a mini Christmas tree, as well as decorating a little bigger tree that was made of wood. They are learning how to cut with our Montessori practical life cutting activity. They also enjoy learning how to put together the towels as well as pouring water from one cup to another.
The kids had an awesome time outside and playing in the snow during outdoor recess.
We talked about how Mexico celebrates Christmas. A few traditions that Mexico does is breaking a piñata for Christmas. In a piñata we find a lot of Confetti as well as a lot of candy, which the kids love. They had a great time learning and experiencing this tradition.
We had a great time listening to some Christmas music that was played on the Alto saxophone and Flute. The kids were so entertained and loved it a lot.
Special Goodbye to our Maple friends who are moving to pre-primary next year.
We are very happy to see these wonderful friends grow. I am very sad to let them go as well as their other friends in Maple. They will leave great memories in our maple classroom. We will all miss you and hope to keep on seeing you!
