Honolulu Hawaii

Honolulu is the capital and largest city in Hawaii with a population of 377,050 people. Honolulu is located on the southeast coast of the island of Oahu and is on the Pacific ocean. This island makes up 75% of the states population and is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the US. The temperature in Honolulu, Hawaii is mostly always warm and sunny throughout the year. From summer the temperature goes up to high 80's and winter goes down to the low 70's.The name Honolulu means 'sheltered harbor' in Hawaiian language. It is actually located on the edge of an old extinct volcano which was known as Diamond head.

Honolulu only started to become a popular tourist sight until after airplanes were created. This is because it is the most simple way to get there, although there are cruises that go there as well. Now over 70,000 tourists from around the world come to visit this island, thousands each day. Honolulu is filled with many attractions, and forms of entertainment. There are many monuments to see, beaches to go too, and many areas for shopping. They are known for their sightseeing and hiking mountains as well.

Honolulu ranks as one of the most safest cities in America and they have very low crime rates. There are many tourists that come which make the city mainly for entertainment and shopping. It actually ranks first in tourist arrivals. This city also is known to have to have the most fit people. People get around the city by busses but many people choose to bike ride. Hawaiian's worship gods and spirits. They believe in a goddess of the volcano. Others have accepted Christianity and other religions though.

Waikiki is Honolulu's famous neighbors who is also on the island of Oahu. It is separated by Honolulu by the Ala Wai Canal. Waikiki is pretty much a city of its own. It has about 25,000 residents and thousands of visitors daily. It is truly like a city that never sleeps. Waikiki has more than 400 restaurants and over 300 bars/clubs. It also has great architecture and many hills and forms of entertainment as well.

There is all types of schools in Honolulu. There are also four major College In Oahu. They have an enrollment of 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students. They offer degrees in more than 80 programs which attracts people from all over the world to attend these colleges. Hawaii also doesn't have a specific sport they play so they cheer on the college sports and games. Hawaii also has and ranks first in life expectancy. They are considered one of the healthiest in the world. The state has 240 doctors and 82 dentists for every 100,000 people, and there are 11 major hospitals. It ends up that sunburn is the most common cause of cancer.

Hawaii also has many museums and libraries. There is a museum that hold more than 20 million artifacts from Hawaiian history.
