Logan French -- Junior Prep Lacrosse
Junior Prep lacrosse's Logan French has been named this week's Athlete of the Week. French led the Blue Devils to a win over Fluvanna County High School with a team-high seven shots, three goals and one assist last Wednesday.
"Logan demonstrated his strong lacrosse IQ, craftily dodging his opponents defensive efforts and then driving in to score against Fluvanna. His athleticism and experience enable him to outmaneuver the defense and be in the right position to catch a well-timed feed and then take the high percentage shots," said head coach Jon Greenspon.

Manglicmot Leads Junior Prep Baseball to Victory over St. Christopher's
Tuesday, April 18, 2017 -- Game Recap
FORK UNION, VA – Eighth-grader Jackson Manglicmot pitched six shutout innings to lead the Junior Prep baseball team to a 7-3 victory over St. Christopher's Tuesday afternoon on Fork Union's lower field.
The win lifted the Blue Devils to a 5-0 undefeated record on their home field. Overall, the squad sits 5-2 on the season.
"Jackson was superb for us on the mound. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, Jackson came to the mound in relief and pitched six shutout innings and was one of the reasons why we won the game," said head coach Steve Friski.
At the plate, Alexander Barnett highlighted the victory with a key double in the fourth inning.
Fork Union ended the week with a 10-3 loss to the Virginia Patriots, a homeschooled league out of Richmond.
"We played a good game in Richmond. We did a lot of good things. The Patriots were just better than us. It was a good experience for us as we took one of our few away trips of the season," added Friski.
The contest was highlighted by a Carter Crawford triple, which was followed by a Carl Lay double all in the fifth inning.
The squad returns to action Wednesday, April 26 when the Blue Devils travel to Saint Anne's Belfield for a 3:45 p.m. first pitch.
Several Alumni Preparing for NFL Draft
Fork Union Military Academy has several alumni anxiously waiting for the 2017 NFL Draft, which begins next Thursday, April 27 and ends Saturday, April 29.
Joe Williams (2011), Mack Hollins (2011) and Derek Rivers (2012) competed at the NFL Combine and received positive feedback.
Other alumni, including Jonathan McLaughlin (2012), Mike Fafaul (2012) and Kevin Marquez (2012), have also entered the NFL Draft and will await their destination next week.
