Social Innovation Jean augustine Secondary School

Sandra Dussiaume - Lead Learner (Principal)

Gursimran, Loveleen, and Vishaal (Grade 10)

Our school is rooted in our SAIL philosophy of Service, Advocacy, Innovation, and Leadership in support of Social Innovation.

At JASS we focus on the process of learning by using various frameworks.

-Design Process in GLS Foundations of Social Innovation

-Creative Process in the Arts and Design Technology

-Inquiry process in Science and Global Studies

These frameworks lend themselves well to Social Innovation

In grades 9 through 11 students take mandatory courses which have a Social Innovation focus.

GLS1O - Foundations of Social Innovation

CHV2O - Social Innovation and Civic Action

IDC3U - Social Innovation

In grade 12 students will have the option of taking the courseĀ IDC4U - Social Innovation in Action.

This course will have a focus on global activism and will provide students with travel opportunities and connections with NGOs.

Social Innovation in the "regular" classroom exists as well. Students are actively engaged in social innovation projects in all subjects areas.
