Strikers is now LAKESHORE SC The Soccer Club For West Michigan's Lakeshore

A New Day is Here for Tri-Cities

Dear Tri-Cities Strikers Families,

In the early 1990s, Tri-Cities Strikers was formed with kids from Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Ferrysburg. It started with just a few teams and has grown to 25-30 teams serving over 400 kids a year. The fact that Strikers continues to grow is evidence that players are having fun, learning, and enjoying success on the pitch!

The Mission of the Tri-Cities Strikers Soccer Club is to offer our families the best possible soccer experience and to field teams that are competitive in our league at all levels. It is our intent to play a leadership role in continuously improving the quality of soccer in West Michigan allowing for age-appropriate player development. Our club emphasizes and encourages personal development and recreational fun through the development and use of soccer skills. Competition shall be viewed not merely as a vehicle for winning, but also as a healthy source of skill development, personal challenge, and an opportunity to learn and practice sportsmanship.

Over the past few years, our board has discussed how we can continue to grow and be inclusive with ALL players from along the lakeshore ranging from recreational, select, and premier levels of soccer. Our goal at the Select level is to provide a positive, competitive soccer opportunity to learn, grow personally, and practice sportsmanship. With the growth of our club expanding with players from Holland, to our local area, and north to Muskegon, along with the mandated birth year changes, we’ve decided to establish a broader identity for our club and to expand with a new identity and club logo.

With that being said, starting with a transition phase this summer, Tri-Cities Strikers will become Lakeshore Soccer Club.

Although Tri-Cities Strikers will forever be a part of our history, it’s our families, players, dedicated managers, coaches, and board of directors that define our club. We are incredibly proud of all those involved in providing a continuous path of positive soccer experiences for kids over the past few decades.

As we all move forward as Lakeshore Select Soccer Club with your support, we will:

  • Work hard as board members, coaches, and managers to communicate effectively with parents
  • Continuously improve the quality of soccer along the Lakeshore
  • Emphasize and encourage personal growth and development from our players
  • Offer the best possible soccer experience for all players
  • Practice positive sportsmanship throughout our club

Thank you for your support as we launch into this new journey together!

Your Lakeshore Soccer Club Board of Directors,

Here are some questions we hope to answer:

Will club fees increase?

No, fees will not increase for 2016-17. Every year our board reviews increasing costs of fields, equipment, and referees. Also, as we improve our culture of competitive coaching which includes additional coaching licenses, our fees could increase in time.

What about uniforms?

Uniform fees will remain the same. This upcoming season we were changing to a new jersey regardless of a new club identity and logo. All players will wear the new XARA Stamford red and white jersey this year. XARA continues to offer the best prices and cycles uniforms every 4-5 years compared to every 2 years with other competitors. Our U8/U9 players and high school girls who all wore the new jersey this season can have the new Lakeshore Soccer Club logo changed for $3 per logo at Just for Kicks.

Why the birth year mandate?

US soccer made the mandate a requirement by 2017/2018 and GVSA decided to adopt the changes for the 2016/2017 league year. Lakeshore Soccer Club must follow the mandates set in place.

Why change the club name now?

With these birth year, uniform, and website changes, Strikers decided that launching our new club name and logo was the right fit at this time.

Why does our logo look similar to Lakeshore Premier’s logo?

In 2010, Lakeshore Premier Soccer Club was created with the partnership of 4 clubs from our lakeshore area with Strikers being one of them. Our vision then was to create a Premier program with the talents and resources from these clubs for players along the lakeshore. Strikers, now Lakeshore Soccer Club and Lakeshore Premier are partners in providing the best soccer experience for kids of all levels along the lakeshore.

When will all the changes occur?

Over the course of the next 2 months, Strikers will transition to Lakeshore Soccer Club with uniforms, website/web address, etc. All changes should be in effect for Fall 2016.

How can you help?

With change, sometimes comes uncertainty and resistance but also excitement and passion! Our hope is that our Strikers families and soccer community will join with us and embrace these changes with a positive approach. We are uniting with the same goals for our kids!

We also have Board openings for Lakeshore Soccer Club. See our website for more information on how you can be a part of this great organization!
