THE OPPOSITES by: Dustin bENEDICT

My artwork looks very plain, although it is a picture of opposite patterns. I used colored pencils to create this piece. The process took about 5 days.

I used many different "mediums" on this. First of all, this is on white sketch paper. There are many different colored pencils used too. Sharpies are used with some shading.

The idea behind my artwork was to have 2 shadows of men with opposite patterns. One of them has flowers in the day time, while the other is a moon in the night time.

My goal was to create a masterpiece of art with opposite patterns in two different shadows. I don't have any major errors in my project either. It turned out great.

My overall thoughts of this grand piece were that it was better than i thought it would be. I actually thought it would turn out awefull, however i agree that it turned out great.

Rene Magritte is an internationally acclaimed surrealist artist. This means he is one of the most elusive artists. He became famous in about the 50's. Also he was born in 1898 to a wealthy manufacturer father. His mom was found dead drowned in the Sombre river in the year of 1912. 1916 through 1918 he studied at the academic des Beaux-Art located in Brussels. Finally, he was married in 1922 to a lovely lady named Georgette Berger.
