Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults.

The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.

In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.

​Some more functions of student council: help to solve school problems to make the school a better place to learn, work on school-wide projects that help the community, work on fun activities which promote school spirit for the whole school.

Role Descriptions

The President shall have the general responsibility for coordinating the activities of the Student Government and for directing and overseeing the affairs of the Student Body. S/he shall preside at all Student Government meetings. The President shall not have voting privileges, except in the case of a tie vote, during which she must cast the deciding vote. The President shall be the lead representative of the Student Body in dealings with the school's faculty and staff, and with the community. The President shall present an account of her/his activities to the Student Government at Student Government meetings.

​The Vice-President shall share the duties and responsibilities of the President. S/he shall, in the absence of the President, preside at Student Government meetings.

The Treasurer shall be the custodian of the Student Association’s funds. S/he shall keep all financial records, disburse funds, and present monthly and annual accounts of financial status of Student Government to the members of Student Government. The Treasurer shall help count and enter funds into the yearly log. S/he is also the signing officer of all Student Council’s budgetary expenses and reimbursements. S/he shall preside at Student Council meetings in the absence of the President and Vice-President.

The Secretary shall be responsible for recording the minutes and acting as official timekeeper of all Student Council meetings. The Secretary shall maintain the permanent records of the Student Council and he/she shall attend all meetings. Also, s/he shall preside at Student Council meetings in the absence of the President, Vice-President, and the Treasurer.
