Shahada

There is only one god who is Allah. Nothing has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Muhammad is the last prophet of Allah.

Salat

Muslims perform five prayers a day at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and night anywhere they are.

Sawm

Every year in the month of Ramadan, all Muslims fast from dawn until sundown, refraining from FOOD, DRINKS, and SEX to self-purify.

-Fun Fact: Muslims Don't eat pork or drink alcohol. So no pepperoni pizza and cold beer at this Super Bowl, or you know, ever.

Zakat

Muslims are required to give a specified percentage on certain properties to certain classes of needy people. So you might not get those new Jordans tomorrow Johnny.

Hajj

Muslims go to Mecca as a sign obedience to God, to achieve enlightenment, to interact with others, to experience the world, to get rid of poverty, to cleanse themselves of sin and to have a closer experience with God.

The sacred texts of Islam are the Quran (also spelled "Koran") and the Hadith (or Hadeeth). They tell the story of the Islamic faith.
