LOGLINE:

A man trapped by an ancient ritual becomes obsessed with the meaning of death.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in the deep woods of the Far East, a man is driven to determine his fate. A mysterious journey leads to an obsessive encounter with an ancient ritual, which introduces him to the meaning of death. The Chair teaches us that the choices of life are hauntingly eternal.

WRITER & DIRECTOR: ARISTOTLE TORRES

Aristotle Torres is a writer and director from the Bronx, NYC. He has built a career directing more than 70 music videos for artists like KanYe West, NaS, Fabolous and commercials for clients such as Starbucks and Pepsi. He is a 2019 Sundance Institute Screenwriters and Directors Lab fellow and is currently preparing his debut feature film, Story Ave.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT:

"The Chair" is an experimental film rooted in minimalism created in the deep woods of Taiwan. As an artist who's born & raised in New York City, I became enamored by the exotic textures, landscape, and people of Taiwan which in turn inspired me to create this piece.
