About Derrick Jones

Derrick Jones (born December 4, 1994) is an American football cornerback for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ole Miss and was raised in Europa, MS. Derrick Jones played both basketball and football in his early years but stuck with football to prove his doubters wrong. Derrick Jones is the light in the room, the dancer in the locker room and rational family man who enjoys gathering with loved ones. Derrick Jones surpassed many when he played at Ole Miss as WR; he totaled 54 tackles, 2 Interceptions, and 6 passes defended. Derrick Jones played both defense and special teams; drafted in 2016 as a cornerback for the NFL NY Jets. The sixth-round pick is a native of Eupora, Mississippi.

Coming in to the Ole Miss Rebels football program as a three-star wide receiver, Jones switched to cornerback his freshman year and started four games. He then split his time at the two positions over his sophomore and junior seasons, playing sparingly at corner but working his way up to starting wide receiver junior year. However, Jones switched back to corner for his senior season. At the start of his senior year, Jones was suspended three games for violating the Rebels' conduct standards.
