Redline flew drones for a Ford spot filmed by the talented people at Picrow in LA. The location: Mt Wilson. The scenery: Gorgeous. The challenge: Wind. Fortunately, we had a great time and got airborne.
The Redline Team
Our team includes pilots, journalists and camera operators. Our mission: capture the world's best aerials in what we call "the Art of the Air."
FROM THE AIR: BTS

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH REDLINE
Photos from on-location filming, like the ones below, are from our Aerial Camera Operator Aimee Vasquez. She also added to the BTS video filmed with Louise Houghton. (Huge thanks to Picrow!)
THE WAY WE FLEW
Temps on Mt Wilson were in the 30s, and so were the winds. We took time to find places on the mountain that were protected from the gusts.
While Peter and the Picrow crew filmed the cars looking their best, we prepped our gear for a quick launch.
We started by sending out a scout aircraft, an Inspire 1, to check the winds aloft. With safe results, we moved on to the Alta, flying the Scarlet-W.
The DJI Inspire 1 "Scout" was a weathership testing winds aloft.
With the Inspire 1 Scout airborne, Peter, the Director (Right) cut the car loose for us to film. And not just any car, but the new Ford Mustang.
Redline and Picrow worked closely together to make the most of every flight.
Kate Gutierrez, a pilot with well over a decade of professional flying experience, was our Safety Officer and Visual Observer.
Our gear worked well in freezing temperatures, beaming back a full HD image at 60 frames per second. This is, of course, thanks to a warm Ford truck that we used as a base station.
End of the day. Driving back down the mountain to a warm coffee was a perfect end to the day.
THE RESULT: AERIAL FOOTAGE
We'll place a link to the ad spot when it runs. Check back soon! Meanwhile, here's what we filmed.
