Nelson Mandela was born on July 18 1918 and died at the age of 95 on December 5 in 2013. Throughout Nelson Mandela's life he had three wives and six children.

In South Africa during this time there was a system of racial segregation.Nelson Mandela had values of solidarity, equality, respect, tolerance, peace and friendship and he stayed by these values even though he was aware of the inequality, intolerance, and racism in the country. Nelson Mandela gave people the skills and abilities to make decisions and fight in our homes, schools, universities, areas and countries in order to help finish with discrimination, inequality, and other violations of human rights.

Nelson Mandela believed that no matter what race or gender you are you deserve to be treated equal and he stood up for these beliefs in order to get reconciliation, democracy, equal citizenship , good quality of life and improvement of South Africa in terms of public policies, social welfare and civil rights for all people, without taking into account race, origin or gender.

Nelson Mandela provided to the world’s inhabitants a way of thinking, a way of acting, a way of embracing and defending what we wouldn’t want in our relatives, friends or partners, but around the world he taught that you should treat everyone equal. Nelson Mandela is know for being a good ethical person because of what he instilled in people. You want to be known as someone who helped and fought for others, and this is what Nelson Mandela did. Nelson Mandela affected the world positively with his idea of everyone being treated equally.

Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years because he was founded guilty of conspiracy and sabotage to overthrow the government of South Africa. In 1985 the South African President F.W. Both offered Mandela freedom if he renounced violence and other illegal activity, but if Nelson Mandela did this he would've put the blame for his imprisonment on himself and went away from the values that he taught , so he decided not to take the offer and serve the rest of his sentence out.

Shortly after Nelson Mandela was released from prison there was a murder in which Chris Hani died who was a black leader who fought for equality throughout the nation,and when he was murdered there was a lot of tensions and a time of rioting. Nelson Mandela spoke to the nation of an idea of not forgetting the values Chris Hani had and not riot and loot but to mourn peacefully.

Nelson Mandela was award the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, and he became the South African President in 1994. Nelson Mandela only served one term as South Africa's president.
