This is Tom now

Tom was born on November 8, 1970 in Santa Monica, California. His father was an entrepreneur and it inspired Tom to become one. During high school he was a computer hacker called Lord Flathead. At one point he cracked the security code for the Chase Manhattan Bank and the FBI found him. They couldn't arrest him because he was under aged. He was also a lead singer in a rock band. In 1988 he received a bachelor's degree in rhetoric and English from the University of California, Berkeley. Later he got a degree in film from the University of California Los Angeles in 2000.

In 2003 him and a man named Chris Wolfe created Myspace to have musicians and bands connect with their fans. Eventually it became popular because of teens and was the most popular social networking website on the internet . By 2006 it had 106 million accounts with 230 thousand new accounts made every day. It was popular until 2008 when Facebook was becoming the next big thing. In 2005 Myspace was sold to Rupert Murdoch's News Corps for $580 million.

The Strategy that was used was capitalizing on unexpected opportunities because at the time it was the only social media website. With this it paved the way for Facebook and Twitter to improve on what Myspace started.
