This week we watched our robot movie together. We put a lot of effort into our costumes, backdrops, and creating our story. We hope we can make another movie soon and we hope you enjoyed it! We also played indoor soccer, played with play-doh, and built structures with magnetic tiles. On Friday we played gaga ball, dodgeball and doctor doctor on Friday.
At the beginning of this week we had fun outside on the field during outdoor free time. We played soccer, tag, and some of us created our own movies on lawn. Later in the week, we played sneaky statues, where the security guard must try and catch the statues moving.
Dinosaur fossil chocolate cake!
For our food craft this week, we made chocolate cake. But this was not an ordinary chocolate cake, it was dinosaur fossil cake. First we had to create our dinosaur fossil. We used a dinosaur shaped cake pan for the fossil. It was fun pouring all the different ingredients into the cake and mixing them up. After they baked, we sprinkled fossil dust (crushed graham crackers) on top to really make it look like we discovered a fossil. We also added mini dinosaur sprinkles. It was a perfect day to make cake, because our counselor Taylor's birthday was Wednesday!
On Wednesday, while our dinosaur cake baked, we made dinosaur eggs. We mixed together baking soda and food coloring. It created perfect spots in our dough. Then we picked out our toy dinosaur to put inside our egg. We formed the dough around it to create our egg shape. We let them dry overnight. On Thursday, we hatched our eggs! We poured vinegar over them and watched the egg bubble away. Our little dinosaurs were free!
Dinosaur fossil hunt!
On Friday, we put on our paleontologist hats and went on a dinosaur hunt. We were searching for mini dinosaurs and dinosaur bones! They were hidden all over the community center. We searched high and low to discover all 12. Each discovery had one or two words on it that we wrote down on our paper. In the end we read our clue that told us we could get a prize!
