Brian denHertog original acoustic music

From festivals and house concerts to touring the small towns of Canada’s West Coast, Brian denHertog has been performing his songs for more than thirty years. Along the way he has been a carpenter, high school shop teacher, carver and jeweller. His songs are rooted in the acoustic elements of folk, blues and country. As a traveller and story teller, Brian’s songs traverse physical and spiritual landscapes. His music illuminates the road less traveled and the way back home. Brian lives in Vancouver, BC and performs either solo or with his wife, flutist/saxophonist Jill Russell.

“Brian denHertog has been many things in his life...a teacher, a carver, a traveller and one of my oldest friends. Somehow his music seems to embody many of these different paths. There is something rough, handmade, honest and beautiful at the heart of Brian’s tunes and always, a compassion and a wamth that I find very appealing”

-Stephen Fearing, Juno Award Winning Singer-Songwriter, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings

"Insightful acoustic street tunes from just around the corner of what most call normal" - UMFM Radio Winnipeg

"Virtuoso performances and interesting arrangements anchoring strong, if quirky and genre-defying, songs". - CBC Radio

"Saturday night the 17th the rain pounded the roof at St. Monica's as folksinger Brian denHertog took the stage alongside flutist/saxophonist Jill Russell. Those who braved the elements were treated to a fine evening of songs, stories and instrumentals from this engaging pair. Two hours of compelling songs left the audience cheering for more" - The Westerner, October 2009
