Taking into consideration that a bird has 2 feet and each rabbit has 4 feet...
... and that in total, there are 16 heads and 38 feet...
There are 13 birds in the cage, because:
  • 13x2+3x4=26+12=38

I knew that the number of birds would always be bigger then rabbits so I started with 10 birds until I found the right number of birds.
