#WoofWednesdays Ruby's Adoption Success Story

Ruby (fka Java) at HSTT

We didn't have much time to get to know Ruby because her time here at HSTT was so short. Two days after she became available, Karli and Sean met her and fell in love. The way Karli tells it, that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

All dog people have that one dog that changes their life. The one that makes them realize they can't live without the incredibly pure energy that comes from having a furry companion and best friend. We had that dog, and unfortunately lost him at five years old to cancer. We knew that we wanted to rescue a pup that maybe hadn't had the best start in life like our dear Seymour had. Enter Ruby! Ruby came from Lyon County, where she was found as a stray at a very young age. She was a bit shy and nervous of new things, but we knew she had to be ours! With the help of an incredible trainer and lots of classes, Ruby gained confidence and has turned into an incredibly loyal and sweet dog.

Enjoying last winter's snow in the backcountry

Our Ruby girl is as sweet as she is wild! She sure is lucky she ended up in Tahoe, because she loves everything about the mountains. In the summer you can't get her out of the water, and in the winter you can't get her out of the snow! Ruby has plenty of energy to go around, but she is the kindest companion. We call her our "wild gem".

Swimming from boulder to boulder on the East Shore

She goes everywhere with us, and enjoys everything that comes with living in Tahoe. Life would not be the same without our sweet Ruby girl, and we are forever thankful to everyone at HSTT who works tirelessly to rescue animals and ensure that they end up in caring forever homes!
