Saints and Angels - A Day of the Dead Celebration

Join us for an elegant evening at the Pines Evergreen Room as we celebrate the traditions of the Day of the Dead. Savor the flavor of Mexican cuisine, enjoy dance performances from Raíces Folklore, experience a Live Art Auction, Dig for prizes in the Diamond Dig, and support the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts. Beginner’s BASIC QUILT BLOCK

October 26, 2019 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Have you ever admired a quilt but didn’t know where to begin? Do you not know how to use a rotary cutter? Do you know how to use a rotary cutter but cannot follow cutting instructions in a pattern? Can you cut your pieces but you do not know how to sew them together? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, then this class is for you!

In this class, you will learn how to cut fabric with a rotary cutter and then piece together a quilt block of your very own.

Artist/Quilter: Kyra Darlage of Small Town Stitches

Fee: $25 for SICA Members; $40 for Non-Members (ages 12+)

Please bring the following supplies: Sewing Machine & Manual, Rotary Cutter (45 or 60 mm), Quilting Ruler (6” x 24” preferably), Scissors, Pins (such as ball head pins, glass head pins, or flower head pins), Seam Ripper, 100% Cotton Thread, Personal Cutting Mat (optional)

Fabric will be provided and is included in your class fee. NOTE: If you sign up for class prior to Class Day and you need any of the above-listed supplies, please stop by Small Town Stitches and receive 20% off. Just confirm that you have already paid for the class.

Pottery Studio

The pottery barn at Southern Indiana Center for the arts will be open every Saturday from 11:00-1:00 for youth and from 1:00-3:00 for adults. This will be an open studio and students are encouraged to bring their own ideas and let our trained pottery instructor help you develop them into your own personal masterpiece. SICA is happy to help you complete for your projects. “Pottery is a multi-step process and it can take about three to four weeks to get a project complete.” Said Betty Johnson, Resident Pottery Instructor.

The pottery barn will continue to be open on Thursday nights for additional instruction by prepaid reservation only. Come check us out for all your pottery needs.

Cost for a session is a low as $20.00 for non-members and $16.00 for members. Annual membership rates begin at $25 dollars for an individual!
