KNOWING CUBA THROUGH ITS DANCES specialized tour for dance lovers in Havana, APRIL 3 - 8, 2019

Project Por Amor is offering a unique tour for dance aficionados and professionals inside one of the great dance capitals of the world: Havana. On April 3 - 8 we will visit during the busiest dance week of the year, the "Ciudad en Movimiento" Dance Festival, when Old Havana explodes with performances throughout its streets and venues. During this five-day program you will study rhythm and movement with some of Havana's best dancers. Through a combination of classes, lectures, and private performances we will survey the diverse panorama of Cuban styles of movement: Afro-Cuban folkloric dance, classic ballet, modern dance, rumba, danzón, and "casino" (salsa). We will also enjoy the best of Cuban cuisine, art, and music and interact with the local thought leaders who are actively building the future of the island.

OPTIONAL: Professional dancers participating in this program will have the opportunity to perform a dance work as an official part of the Ciudad en Movimiento Festival program.

Trip Hosts

Professional Cuban Dancers: Throughout the week we will be instructed by a diverse group of select Cuban professional dancers who will teach our workshops, take us to salsa clubs, perform for us, and join us for meals.
