How I apply the cognitive learning style to my nursing education?

Author George Siemens writes, "Informal learning is a significant aspect of our learning experience. Formal education no longer comprises the majority of our learning. Learning now occurs in a variety of ways- through communities of practice, personal networks, and through completion of work-related task."

Days of traditional in-class sessions is slowly becoming a thing of the past with the development of online educational programs that provide the same if better quality of education for the student and in the comfort of their own space.

How I apply the cognitive learning style to nursing education is the method of processing information for projects and assignments. For example, this project-create your own spark page. I wrote out a brainstorm diagram so that I could visualize the elements of the presentation, and to have a physical copy. Another way I apply the cognitive learning style is associating information acquired from other course to contribute to the online learning experience.

How I apply the cognitive learning style to technology consists of reading blogs and journals to stay in the know with the current technology changes in healthcare. As a healthcare provider understanding how to use technology is important in todays workplace since the implementation of the electronic medial records model into the job description.
