Nutrition is one of the most important, yet, most overlooked aspect of living a happy healthy life. In this WebQuest we will be learning about the importance of having a healthy balanced diet and implementing our knowledge through the creation of a healthy lunchbox for next week.

Content Standard:

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; Standard 1; Nutrition


The task is to bring a lunchbox to class next week with appropriately portioned food including, vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy.


1. Learn about MyPlate and healthy eating habits.

This first video really introduces the MyPlate and healthy eating habits such as "sometimes" and "anytime" foods.

This video is to further reinforce the MyPlate guide. It also puts specific percentages to the actual portions.

Games to help reinforce what you have been learning about! Play one or two and see how your learning can be expanded.

This video talks about making healthy choices even when you aren't eating at home.

2. With adult supervision and the new knowledge you have: Make a properly proportioned lunchbox to bring to class next week.

Don't forget to include your fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy!

Excellent (5 points) - Contents/Portion Size were appropriate.

Good (3 points) - Contents/Portion Size were off by a little bit.

Poor (1 point) - Contents/Portion Size were not close to correct.
