Hello Falcon Families!

I hope that everyone stayed safe and warm this weekend!

Important District Information

Open Enrollment Window Has Closed

Our Open Enrollment Window for 2018-2019 has closed. We will begin to contact our applicants and moving to the next step in our enrollment process! We have a number of potential new students in both the College Prep and Early College.

Please know that any families/students who did not apply during the open enrollment window may still do so. We will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis.

M-Step Exams for 3rd Year College Prep Students

M-Step exams for our 3rd year CP students (8th grade) will begin Tuesday, April 17! Students will need headphones, so please have students bring a pair of headphones in on Tuesday!

Parent volunteers to support with a pancake breakfast during testing would be great! We would also love donations of lifesavers, jolly ranchers, or any other hard candy that will support with keeping our students' young minds active during testing.

If you would like to help by serving pancakes please let our office know. We will need support from 8:00-8:45am Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Friday Casual Attire Dress Code Reminder

As the weather gets warmer (well, hopefully!), this is a reminder that casual clothing has it's own dress code guidelines, which are listed in the College Prep Handbook. Here are a few common violations to keep in mind:

  • Shorts, dresses, and skirts must reach the tip of student's middle finger when arms are down by the students side. Any shorter is violating the dress code.
  • No midriffs showing. If a student wears a crop top, they must have a tank top on underneath so the belly is not exposed.
  • No undergarments showing.
  • No low-cut tops.
  • No see-through clothing.

Important Note: If a student is wearing a non-dress code shirt underneath a sweatshirt, and he/she take the sweatshirt off and wears just the shirt (even before school, during lunch, or after school), this is considered violating the dress code.

  • Per Mr. Llerena - If a student comes to school out of dress code, we have uniform clothing available that he/she can change into. If this option is not taken, then the student will be sent home.

Thank you for your support!

Announcements

PSAT Results:

JPEC students showed great fortitude and took their testing seriously. While Juniors were taking their SATs, 8-10th grade took a practice PSAT 10. This was a great way for younger students to experience a testing environment, especially since Michigan is switching from the M-STEP to the PSAT 8/9 & 10 next year. Initial results have been very strong, with our 9th-grade class scoring in the top 35% of 10th-graders, nationwide! 10th-grade results are also above average for the nation, but can't yet give us a comprehensive gradewide picture, as a number of our accelerated 10th graders participated in the actual SAT. We look forward to seeing everyone's results and continuing to grow as a school that creates competitive collegiate scholars.
