The hormone system

The pituitary gland controls growth, metabolism, development of reproductive organs, and many other body functions

Pituitary gland is located in the brain

Thyroid gland produces thyroxine that controls metabolism

The thyroid gland is located near the trachea

Parathyroid glands control the amount of calcium and phosphorous in the body

The four parathyroid glands are found on the thyroid gland

The pancreas produces insulin and digestive enzymes

The pancreas is located near the stomach

The adrenal glands produce adrenaline

The adrenal glands are located on the kidneys

The ovaries produce ova and estrogen

The ovaries are located beside the uterus on each side of the lower abdomen

Testes are in the male body and produce sperm and testosterone

The testes are held within the scrodum out side of the internal cavities of the body
