Get into groups of 5. Follow this link to find the details of the case at hand: http://teachingcivics.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Mini-Mock-Trial-State-v.-Tony1.pdf

Find 2 laws (1 that defends Tony, and 1 that accuses Tony)

Half of the class must defend Tony (even if you disagree)

Half of the class must attempt to convict Tony (even if you disagree)

After the class has presented information defending and convicting Tony, you will serve as the jury.

The jury will meet and must come to unanimous conclusion. Therefore, you must debate for or against Tony's plead of innocent.

Elect one student to state what and why the jury decided the way they did.

The judge will then hear the juries vote. The judge will then say whether or not the students were correct in their defense or conviction.
