Winter Wonderland Low Iowa Temperatures

2014 was ranked as Iowa's 6th coldest year on record.

Washta is the coldest area of Iowa. On January 12, 1912 Washta had a temperature of -47 degrees!

It had been over 35 years since we had winter as bad as 2014. For Cedar Rapids, 2014 was its 9th coldest winter. Buchanan County is Iowa's snowiest county with 50.8 inches of snow in 2014.

Cedar Rapids normal temperature for December 1st, is around 38 degrees. On December 31st, however, the normal temperature is 28 degrees. The coldest it has ever been is -28 degrees on December 28, 1924. The most snow fall recorded in Iowa was in 2000 with 26.5 inches!
