About the Campfire Coalition
The MDI Community Campfire Coalition is a joint program of The Neighborhood House and Harbor House Community Service Center. The goal of the Coalition is to provide one-time heating assistance to families in need on Mt. Desert Island, as well as the Cranberry Isles and Swans Island. The program is easy to apply for and independent of any state or federal programs.
All applications are kept fully confidential, and those who qualify can receive up to 100 gallons of heating oil, or the equivalent amount propane, electric, etc. Application forms are available at Harbor House, The Neighborhood House, local town offices, and area libraries and churches. The annually recurring program runs during "heating season," from November 1st through April 30th.
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of all contributions to the MDI Community Campfire Coalition go directly to the purchase of heat. Neither Harbor House nor The Neighborhood House charge to recoup administrative costs.
